Capturing Tour Steps

Adopt has a feature that automates will the recording of guides and their steps. You can quickly turn on recording mode and Adopt will automatically and continuously take a screenshot every time a step is triggered. Once you have captured the whole process, you can turn the recording mode off and download the captures as a Microsoft Word document file to your computer. The document will include the guide’s name, the text contained in the step, the date and time of recording, and the screenshot where the step bubble is displayed. Adopt will store the recording in the cloud and it will be available to download as a Word document on-demand.

Note: Guides and their steps must already exist in the Management Console before you can record them

Note: The recording process can be initiated and stopped from the Agent mode. You do not need to open the Adopt Editor for this. However, if the Adopt Editor is open at that moment (when the step is triggered), the screenshot will include the Adopt toolbar as well.

Recording a guide

Note: Make sure you are in Agent mode. Turn off the Adopt Editor so that it doesn’t appear in the recording.

  1. From your system webpage, click on the Adopt extension icon on the Google Chrome toolbar

  2. From the list, find the guide you want to record and click on the camera icon to start recording

Note: When recording, the Stop button will be visible instead of the camera icon.

  1. Walk through the system and click all of the steps that form the guide

Note: Once started, Adopt continuously records the whole process until the Stop button is pressed. A single recording can contain multiple guides and their steps, meaning that you can capture a complex process in one recording.

Note: If you are using decisions in your guides, it means there is more than one way a guide can be completed. Do not forget to initiate a recording for the other flows.

  1. When you have finished, click the Stop button

Note: Stopping the recording progress does not affect any previously recorded guides. You can continue downloading previously recorded guides in the Adopt Management Console. You can use this functionality to record the guides when desired by starting or stopping whenever needed.

Generating and downloading the recording

Note: Adopt keeps the recordings on its cloud servers. You can download the recording anytime. If you deployed Adopt on-premise (on your local cloud storage) or Microsoft Azure Cloud Storage, the progress does not change; however, where the recordings are kept will change accordingly.

  1. Click Generate and Adopt will generate the document

  1. Refresh the page

Note: You must refresh the page before you can download the document. A message prompting you to refresh will appear in the bottom right corner

Note: A message will appear in the bottom right of the screen stating that the download was successful
